I am so happy that large gatherings are happening again these days and we are back out in the wild being social. I don’t know if I am feeling bolder because I am a couple of years older or having been bottled up for so long, but I am striking up conversations with anyone around me. Of course, some could argue I have always been bold (ha) but it has been dormant through the pandemic. Well, I am out and about again so BUCKLE UP everybody.
I was at an outdoor concert recently and was in this super cool VIP area. One of my friends invited me and we definitely up’d the game with this seating. Note to self, I need to do VIP things more often. It was extra.
It was my turn for drinks, so I made my way to the drink line by myself to get drinks for our group. While I was waiting, I spotted a station that had sanitizing stuff and also bug spray. The concert was in the grass so I say to the lady behind me, can you hold my place while I get some bug spray? She said, of course.
I actually bring the spray back so I can see if this nice lady wants any. She does and we are then properly sprayed. For the record, the spray was called Vampire repellant.
There was a super cute guy behind this lady, and I asked him if he wanted any Vampire repellant bug spray? He said, I don’t like to put anything on my body that I haven’t fully researched, no thank you. My reply? Well, you seem like a lot of fun.
He laughed and I say to him, here is the real question, do you think this Vampire spray will repel guys too? Because that is not my intention.
He said whether you repel guys or not is totally up to you. I said, really? Shoot, where have you been all my life? I didn’t realize that was in my control.
We all laughed and talked while we waited in line to get our drinks and I head on my way.
Now, I have 4 drinks and I am walking in between chairs to get back to our spot rather gingerly. This new random guy starts waving to me. I go over his way. He said, thank you so much. I say, for what? He said those drinks in your hand are from a company that I started. I love that you bought them.
I was like, tequila and soda in a can? Yes please! I said I love that you started this business because it is a great easy drink. I went on to say, I just got Invisalign. so this works for me because it is a clear drink. The guy sitting next to him says, well, I am his dentist, so I approve of this drink for you. I then feel inspired to show him my teeth. Hilarious. Everyone was so friendly and fun.
This group was sitting behind us but now they start sending drinks over. They also give us some swag from his company. When the show was over, we start chatting with them again. I found out one guy was with his girlfriend and the other was married. Bummer because they were great.
They then invited us to have more drinks with them at the Club house. I was tempted but my ride was leaving so I decided to do the proper thing and call it a night.
But I do regret it a bit. I bet the Club House would have been a target rich environment for meeting people. Next time!
Lesson Learned? A 100 year-old lady was interviewed and was asked the secret to a happy life? She said, just get outside, something wonderful is bound to happen. That is my new mantra. I feel the simple things were taken for granted pre-pandemic and I won’t do that again.
