The Long Game

A couple of years ago, I activated the privacy feature on my social media accounts so randoms can't see my posts. This was mostly because of the potential catfish situations that would happen occasionally. I do love to mess with a catfisher in an effort to waste their time, but I realized it was wasting my time too!

I thought things were pretty locked down but found out I didn't have my IM set to private. It wasn't really a problem until recently. This guy did not give up for years! Check out the dates on the messages. Here is the exact exchange:

November 25, 2018 (random guy)

How have you been? Are you still working for the same company?

No response from me.

February 23, 2019 (random guy)

Waving hello.

February 25, 2019 (me)

Yes, still working for the same company.

February 25, 2019 (random guy)

Wow. That's awesome.

How are you still single?

You are absolutely beautiful.

How's your day going?

February 25, 2019 (me)
How did our paths cross? I can't remember.

I have absolutely no idea who this guy is but trying to be respectful since I might have met him through work. After a brief investigation, nothing rang a bell. His profile picture was of his daughter, and I couldn't find anything on any social media platform that even looked slightly familiar.

A long time ago we met at a function when I worked at the Casino.

I wanted to take you to dinner but then I saw you on match.

February 25, 2019 (me)

That was a long time ago. I haven't been on match in years.

February 25, 2019 (random guy)

I know!! Still single?

February 25, 2019 (me)

Yes

February 25, 2019 (random guy)

When can I take you to dinner?

February 25, 2019 (me)

I am in New Orleans, then I go to Vegas. Things are crazy for a couple of weeks.

February 28, 2019 (random guy)

How are you?

February 28, 2019 (me)

I don't even really know you and you keep blowing up my messages. It is a little weird to me.

Sue blocks random guy

I was extra creeped out that he was monitoring when I was on the app. And we weren't even friends. I happen to show the exchange to my niece, and she said, block him! You should have blocked him a long time ago.

Lesson learned? It is always interesting to talk to a younger generation on dating. They have far less patience in these types of scenarios. I always think what if? They think, what if he is no good? But, if you get the creep vibe, trust your gut.
